It has been said that each of us should do one thing every day that gets us out of our comfort zone. While we are all for personal growth at JD Air, we just don’t think that the one thing should be venturing out of the warmth into that pesky room that always seems to be degrees cooler than the rest of the house. So what can be done when you have that one room that just won’t heat up?
The first step should be to check for closed vents in the room. While closing a few air vents in other parts of the home may help to divert warm air to a more appropriate area, there is an HVAC myth that many people believe which suggests money can be saved on your heating/cooling bills by closing air vents. The reality is, if too many vents are closed, airflow could be restricted and actually increase your bills and harm your HVAC unit. Closed vents may be the cause of the temperature discomfort.
Heating loss can also be the cause of improperly sealed windows or doors. If you don’t feel comfortable resealing these areas on your own, you can have a professional do it for you.
If the above steps haven’t resulted in a solution, the cause could be an unbalanced HVAC system.
Have you had this problem? What did you do to get yourself and your home back to your comfort zone? If you have an idea for a new post or a subject that you would like more information about, feel free to let us know. We would love to hear from you!
